Shockingly i had to admit that even this this three year old handheld game needs more sophistic build up play and tactical awareness than PES 2016 in its current status. At least you can´t just take a defender and run up and down the pitch.

wow, that's next level trolling what you are doing here.

Come on. I picked up a major gameplay aspect and did a comparison. In addition i underlined its a personal regard.

If KONAMI would deliver a product worthy of the series and the current standards, user posts would surely look different. It´s not about trolling, as you should know by my posts about previous iterinations of PES - especially PES2014, which i defended nearly on my own in here. So i wonder what makes you write such garbage.

I agree, it's extremely easy to run from your defence to penalty kick area without the cpu doing something useful to stop you.

That's what stopped me from playing. I HATE that.

Not entirely sure what's different but the CPU AI felt better, goalkeepers definitely felt better (not a single mistake by a GK all tournament, awful flappy animation for most saves though), pace of the game felt better, game felt smoother.. so it all just added up to make the game feel that bit better for me which was great.

Is the shoulder barge a new move btw?! I never noticed this type of tackle previous so was wondering if that's something they brought in with the new patch? Originally if i was side by side with the player and double tapped X then he would just do the normal conservative tackle, but now they go for a shoulder barge and if positioned correctly and have a high body balance, you can really shoulder the player off the ball. I thought it was a great addition as this is something that happens in every football match.

I think the general play of PES is okay but I can't understand how anyone can enjoy playing a game with such pathetic shooting and goalkeeping. Its so unsatisfying to have a shot, make a save and score a goal yet that's the most exciting and most important part of football.

Put it this way; I played PES 2008 and PES 2010 yesterday and I'm actually questioning whether they are better than PES 2016. They were 100% more fun to play (I know they're arcadey but they're not trying to be something they're not) and mostly because of the shooting. The ball felt like it had weight to it, you could hit the ball over or scuff it wode, when it hit the post you felt it, when they players hit a powerful shot you felt it. The goalkeepers actually made saves and you didn't automatically know when you power the shot whether you're going to score. THE KEEPERS WERE CAPABLE OF SAVING 1vs1's. It was actually exciting to be in that situation because you don't know the outcome. On PES 2016 you know if you take a finesse shot you can just roll the ball into the goal every time (tthe ball doesn't even roll on PES 2016 it skids). Also you can hit low, hard shots into the bottom corners from in and around the box. I couldn't remember the last football game where you could do that, FIFA included. The ball always seems to rise to keeper height. I'd say 70% of shots in and around the box are finished low and hard in professional football yet it's rarely seen in football games because little kids would rather see the ball fly into the top corner at 100 mph rather than roll into the bottom.

I'm playing a Master League with AC Milan on PS4, which I began after the latest patch was installed. After a good number of matches into the season, I have to say that PES 2016 has me hooked. In fairness, I have played this year's version more than any of the PS3 era, and it has been money well spent.

At present, I cannot put the controller down, though real life forces it upon me! The maximum number I can squeeze in is four games every couple of days. The issues I had with the imported kits no longer bother me at all, and I accept the game for what it is. There is an unpredictability to how each and every match will feel, some are ultra-responsive, while others are somewhat less so, but as a whole, it's brilliant.

Playing on Professional difficulty, manual passing and basic shooting (though I often use the manual shot function with L2 to add variety). Playing the real life formation, with Honda as a right sided AMF, Bonaventura as a left midfielder, flanking two guys in the centre. I stick to Professional due to potential scripting problems on the two higher difficulty levels, it seems more balanced this way. Bad teams are simply bad teams, but can still punish you if you don't stick away your chances.

What do you expect to stay the same in pes 2017 ? Every other threads and posts talks about wishlists and changes, but knowing konami, what do you think will stay the same ? Be it animations, goalies, modes etc. There could be a separate thread but it will be more reasonable to keep it for later.

I am not expecting a revolution in the gameplay for Pes 2017. They need to make the right changes where it is needed the most. Improve the shooting and keepers, tighten up gameplay so that the ai is more aware and stop the running from end to end with defenders which is lame. If the production team do not know by now what needs sorting then we might as well give up. But I still keep the faith - there is no alternative.

It is essential for me that the whole shooting system (animations, ball physics, variation, goalkeepers, goalframes, goal nets, power bar) gets overhauled or reworked to be realistic and rewarding. If Konami change nothing else just make the shooting and scoring enjoyable I could play it.

If I'm dreaming to much I'd like to see them change the non sprint dribbling animations and physics where the players do a lazy stiff run and the ball is glued to their feet. Id also like to see more player ID, not more players but more pronounced player ID.

And realistically I think Konami will improve the shooting and goalkeepers... Whether it's enough improvement we'll have to see. No doubt there will be a glaring floor that Konami ignores and says it's fine.

Other than that I don't expect to see much else change other than adding in more mo capped animations (very important), faces and being on time with their data packs (very important). I just what the whole feel of the game to be less arcadey and beginner.

Don't think we'll get anything new in the modes even though I'm praying for edit mode to be fully opened up and sharing capabilities.

Edit: in fact it's paramount they allow sharing capablities for option files whether it be from an in game or online sharing centre or sony give some special permission for them. If they said they were close to getting it working last year (which I think was bull shit) then this year they must have it and if they don't then we know it was bull shit last year.

B-Man over at Evo web mentioned that they have a large sum of budget on mocapping this time. I guess there will be more natural looking animations this time around if that is to be true.

Why's that so unbelievable?

They certainly don't need to spend much more on the likes of faces, there's loads in already and they're hiring face makers for nothing!

Adam said himself that once they'd nailed down the basic gameplay they'd go after more bells 'n' whistles.

This is totally plausible and if anyone on here should know, it's B Man he does have an inside track to both Adam and Asim.

Too cynical, again...

We'll see guys. I do my best to share info when I hear things through the grape vines. I try to drop subtle stuff without pissing people off who confide in me. Bottom line, I'm a fan like all of you. I don't care about being in "the know" if I can't share atleast some stuff with the hardcore fans. I'm not one to stick my nose in the air and be like "I know stuff you don't" and sit on a high horse. That isn't me. I'll try to share with you guys what I can.

Hearing mo-cap huge priority. But we've all been down this road before where we heard things were happening but plans fell through. Until I have proof with my own eyes it is all speculation at this point.

The goalkeepers dive like stiffs from a zombie game. And as mentioned above shooting is crap. Surely Konami can see that. I think it's a limitation with the current game engine.

It is strange how PES 2016 is more satisfying to play on the PS3 than the PS4.

It's not unbelievable to me... Konami are clearly capable of mo capping good animations as we see some in PES 2016. The problem is there aren't enough of them and they aren't implemented correctly, especially the shooting and goalkeepers. They were severely lacking in 2016 for whatever reason, either they didn't put enough money into it, didn't have enough time to do it or didn't have the right staff to implement it properly.

It seems simply logical that Konami would add a load more mo capped animations for 2017. It should be that all of the animations are from mo cap so seems that they would be building up to that point. How they are implemented and how the game plays around those animations we'll have to see but no doubt there should be more mo capped animations.

Please note. This is not an anti PES or Konami comment, there's too many of those on these pages as it is...

But...

I really thought we'd be getting this kind of crowd presentation 'n' stadium shit goin on with the advent of PS4's...

Think there needs to be some better post processing going on with fox engine for future versions. I mean in reality, the crowd doesn't need to be fully 3d modelled, it's a camera thing, they only need to look like they're 3d from wherever the camera's looking etc.

There needs to be a bit more depth of field jiggers poker going on to "simulate" the stadium environment rather than the whole crowd being modelled, might free up some processes power for more seamless animations for the player movements. Caliche?! 8-)
